This Sauvignon Blanc from Huia is a refined Marlborough expression, shaped by a challenging yet rewarding vintage. It combines bright fruit, texture and minerality, offering both freshness and depth through careful, small-batch winemaking.

Winery

Huia is a Marlborough-based producer known for organic practices and thoughtful, small-scale winemaking. Founded in 1994 and now led by Tom Pegler, the winery focuses on minimal intervention and wines that reflect both place and season.

Named after the native Huia bird, a revered Māori symbol of honour and connection, the winery’s philosophy centres on balance, respect and craftsmanship.

Vintage & Vineyard

The 2024 season began with poor flowering, resulting in loose grape bunches and lower yields. A dry summer followed, producing fruit with strong concentration and clean flavour development.

Fruit was sourced predominantly from vineyards in the Lower Wairau and Waihopai Valleys.

Winemaking

• Machine and hand harvested fruit

• Gently pressed and cold settled

• Fermented using pied de cuve

• Combination of stainless steel and neutral oak puncheons

• Finished with organic yeast

• Minimal intervention approach
