Il Passo del Lume Spento is one of Le Ragnaie's distinctive single-vineyard Brunello expressions. The vineyard sits at approximately 621 metres above sea level, making it one of the highest vineyards in Montalcino. Its elevation and distinctive soils contribute to the wine's exceptional freshness, mineral character and elegant structure.

Vintage Conditions

The 2021 vintage brought together ripe fruit character and excellent natural freshness. At the elevated Passo del Lume Spento vineyard, cooler conditions help preserve acidity and aromatic precision, resulting in a Brunello with remarkable energy, structure and ageing potential.

Winemaking Techniques

Made from 100% Sangiovese grown at the estate's highest vineyard, the wine is traditionally produced to highlight the site's distinctive character. It is matured for approximately 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, allowing the wine to develop depth and complexity while maintaining its freshness and mineral profile.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep ruby red with garnet tones

Aroma: Raspberries, ripe cherries and violets with fresh leather, sweet herbs, tobacco and subtle smoky notes

Palate: Medium to full-bodied and focused, with vibrant acidity, ripe tannins and concentrated red fruit

Finish: Long, energetic and mineral-driven, with savoury herbs, red berries and a lingering saline character
