Le Ragnaie is a respected Montalcino estate focused on expressing the character of its individual vineyards through traditional winemaking. Vigna Vecchia, meaning "old vine", comes from one of the estate's oldest vineyard sites and produces a particularly concentrated and age-worthy expression of Sangiovese.

Vintage Conditions

The 2021 vintage was an excellent year for Brunello di Montalcino, delivering wines with concentrated fruit, vibrant acidity and strong structure. The long growing season allowed the grapes to develop excellent aromatic and tannic maturity while retaining freshness.

Winemaking Techniques

Made from 100% Sangiovese from the Vigna Vecchia vineyard, the grapes are carefully selected before traditional fermentation and extended maceration. The wine is matured in large oak casks, allowing the substantial tannins to soften while preserving the purity and freshness of the old-vine fruit.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Lustrous ruby red with garnet and orange highlights

Aroma: Cherry, raspberry and pomegranate with dusty rose, cedar, allspice and subtle menthol notes

Palate: Focused and elegant, with vibrant red berries, lively acidity and fine, gripping tannins

Finish: Long and persistent, with mineral, floral and savoury nuances
