Winery Background

Meerea Park is a family-run estate in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, led by Rhys and Garth Eather. The ‘XYZ’ range represents a modern take on Hunter Valley wines. Approachable, fruit-driven and sourced from smart sites like Pokolbin’s Lochleven vineyard.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2023 Shiraz comes from the Lochleven vineyard in Pokolbin. A warm, dry growing season with low yields produced fruit of excellent quality and depth. Warm days and cool nights preserved natural acidity, while intense fruit character developed steadily.

Winemaking Process

Hand‑picked fruit was open‑fermented in small batches and matured in French oak hogsheads. The wine was then bottled under screwcap to maintain freshness and clarity of expression.

Tasting Notes

Bright crimson in the glass with aromas of dark plums, blueberry jam and subtle spice. On the palate it is medium‑bodied with fine silky tannins and layered dark fruit. The finish is long, precise and carries a pleasing savoury edge.

Food Pairing

Well-suited to hearty dishes such as grilled lamb, roasted beef, beef casseroles, or aged hard cheeses. Its structure and fruit profile also stand up to richer vegetarian plates.
