Winery Background
Henschke is one of Australia’s most celebrated family-owned wineries, with over 150 years of winemaking heritage across the Barossa and Eden Valley. The Julius Riesling is part of the Discovery Series and honors ancestor Julius Henschke. It is a benchmark Eden Valley Riesling, renowned for its purity, elegance, and cellaring potential.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions
The 2024 vintage is sourced from high-altitude Eden Valley vineyards, situated between 400–500m above sea level. A cool and mild growing season with extended ripening delivered Riesling grapes of exceptional intensity, fresh natural acidity, and mineral drive. These conditions created one of the most balanced vintages in recent memory.

Winemaking Process
Hand-picked grapes were gently whole-bunch pressed to capture delicate aromatics. Fermentation was carried out at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks to ensure freshness and varietal precision. No oak was used, preserving purity of fruit expression. Bottled early to retain vitality, with magnum format offering even greater ageing potential due to slower maturation.

Tasting Notes
Pale straw with green tints. Intense aromas of lime zest, citrus blossom, and white florals, supported by subtle wet stone minerality. The palate is taut, elegant, and precise, showing flavours of lime, green apple, and grapefruit. A backbone of crisp acidity leads to a long, focused, and mineral finish, highlighting both freshness and structure.

Food Pairing
Outstanding with freshly shucked oysters, grilled shellfish, and sashimi. Complements aromatic Asian dishes, such as lemongrass-spiced seafood or Thai salads, and pairs beautifully with light goat’s cheese or fresh garden herbs.
