Winery Background

Moppity Vineyards was established by Jason and Alecia Brown in 2002 in the Hilltops region of Southern New South Wales. The Atrius range takes its name from the southern constellation, symbolising the three vineyard regions used, Canberra, Hilltops and Tumbarumba. Each considered a guiding star of the winery’s philosophy.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 was crafted from fruit grown in cool‑climate, elevated sites across the three Atrius regions. These vineyards benefited from warm days and cool nights, which helped the berries develop concentrated cassis and blueberry flavours while retaining freshness and herbaceous nuance.

Winemaking Process

Grapes were harvested parcel by parcel to preserve the expression of each site. The wine was vinified with gentle extraction to maintain varietal purity. Ageing in oak was restrained to support structure and texture rather than dominate fruit expression. Closure is screwcap to ensure clarity and freshness.

Tasting Notes

Pours deep ruby in hue. The aroma is classic cool‑climate Cabernet with intense cassis and blueberry complemented by black olive and dried herb characters. On the palate it is generous and polished, framed with velvety tannins and hints of savoury herb, leading to a soft lingering finish of refined structure.

Food Pairing

This wine makes a natural partner for grilled beef or lamb, roast poultry with herb rubs, or rich vegetarian dishes featuring mushrooms or lentils. It also complements strong cheeses and dishes with savoury spice or olive notes.

Named for the constellation Atrius, this Cabernet Sauvignon is intended to reflect Moppity’s dedication to blending fruit from three distinct cool‑climate regions in a balanced and rigorous manner.
