Moppity Vineyards is a family-run vineyard founded by Jason and Alecia Brown in 2002, located at high elevation in the Hilltops region of Southern New South Wales. The Atrius range draws fruit from Canberra Hilltops Tumbarumba and showcases their philosophy of blended regional expression that honours each site’s character.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2021 vintage benefited from cool-climate conditions typical of Tumbarumba, which helped grapes retain vibrant acidity and develop concentrated flavours slowly. Mature vines from elevated sites across the selected regions were handled with care to preserve regional integrity in the final blend.

Winemaking Process

Each parcel was fermented separately under gentle conditions to retain fruit purity. Minimal oak was used, with modest cedarwood influence contributing nuance without overpowering the chardonnay’s core expression. The closure is a screwcap chosen to maintain freshness.

Tasting Notes

This wine displays grilled peach stone fruit aromas alongside pear apple and vanilla bean hints with flashes of grapefruit. It pours with vibrancy and a lively palate framed by steely acidity and nutty richness. The finish is harmonious in flavour measure and mineral and compellingly long.
