Winery Background

Moppity Vineyards is a family‑run operation established by Jason and Alecia Brown in 2002, located in the Hilltops region of Southern New South Wales. The Atrius series is named after the southern constellation, representing fruit from three cool‑climate zones: Canberra Hilltops and Tumbarumba.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2024 vintage for Tempranillo saw fruit drawn from those elevated vineyards, benefiting from cool nights and warm days at altitude, ensuring savoury brightness alongside concentrated red fruit flavours.

Winemaking Process

Each vineyard parcel was harvested separately and vinified gently to retain varietal purity. Oak influence is subtle and supportive and the wine is bottled under screwcap to preserve freshness and clarity.

Tasting Notes

This Tempranillo is plush and polished with core aromas of black cherry and juicy plums edged by Asian spice. Gentle oak contributes a hint of vanilla and toasted notes without overwhelming the fruit. On the palate it is medium‑bodied with ripe dark fruit flavours, soft polished tannins and a savoury spice echo. The finish is long refined and harmonious.

Food Pairing

This wine pairs well with grilled or slow cooked red meats such as lamb or beef, rich mushroom‑based dishes and hearty vegetarian stews. Its balance of fruit and savoury spice makes it versatile at the table.
