WINERY INFORMATION:

2017 was a warmer than average, low yielding vintage in the Barossa. The wine is from portions of the Mountadam estate near the historic Boehm Springs Reserve, a nesting ground for the Wedge Tail Eagle the logo of Mountadam. The vines grow in quartz rich sandy loams formed from the underlying 500 million year old Schist bedrock. From the 16 individual Chardonnay vineyards on the estate, 5 vineyard components were selected to make this wine. Harvesting occurred at optimal fruit flavor over a two week period starting on the 26th February . Picking the grapes in the cool of early morning followed by a gentle pressing a long cool 4 week fermentation with our natural cultured yeast, helps retain maximum grape flavors. This Unoaked wine shows the crispness and concentration of ripe Chardonnay.

TASTING NOTES:

Intense lively fruit aromas carry through on the palate. Ripe apple, pear and peach characters with a distinct fresh acidity, typical of cool climate Chardonnay.
