Established in 1972, Mountadam Vineyards is one of the pioneering estates in Eden Valley, founded by David Wynn with a vision to craft wines of distinction from this elevated and cool-climate region. Region & Vintage
High Eden, a subregion of Eden Valley, is renowned for its altitude, cooler nights, and long ripening season — conditions that allow Shiraz to achieve remarkable intensity while maintaining balance and finesse. The 2021 vintage is considered one of South Australia’s finest in recent memory: a near-perfect growing season that delivered reds of outstanding concentration, purity, and cellaring potential.

Winemaking
Hand-picked fruit was fermented in small batches with careful skin management to extract vibrant colour, flavour, and supple tannins. Following fermentation, the wine was matured in a selection of fine French oak barrels, with a portion new, to enhance structure and complexity while integrating seamlessly with the fruit.

Tasting Notes
Deep crimson in the glass. Aromas of blackberry, dark plum, and blueberry are layered with notes of violets, pepper, and mocha. The palate is rich yet refined — powerful dark fruits balanced by fine-grained tannins, subtle spice, and savoury depth. A long, elegant finish speaks to both the quality of fruit and craftsmanship in the cellar.
