Founded in 1972 by David Wynn, Mountadam Vineyards is one of Eden Valley’s trailblazing estates. Renowned for its elevated vineyards and cool-climate approach, the winery produces wines of elegance and precision. Its Shiraz expresses both the power of McLaren Vale fruit and the finesse of Eden Valley’s cooler sites.

Vineyards & Vintage Conditions
Fruit comes from high-altitude vineyards in Eden Valley, where cool nights and warm days slow ripening, preserve natural acidity, and enhance aromatic intensity. The 2021 vintage delivered consistent conditions with moderate yields, producing grapes with concentrated flavours, balanced tannins, and excellent varietal expression.

Winemaking
Hand-harvested grapes underwent small-batch fermentation to maintain aromatic purity. Gentle extraction preserved fruit integrity, while maturation in a mix of French oak barrels (part new) added spice, structure, and depth. Minimal intervention allowed the terroir and variety to shine.

Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Deep ruby with violet edges.

• Nose: Rich aromas of blackberry, plum, and dark cherry with hints of pepper, clove, and subtle smoky oak.

• Palate: Medium to full-bodied, offering layered dark fruits, savoury spice, and fine-grained tannins. Balanced acidity provides structure, leading to a long, elegant finish.
