WINERY INFORMATION

Alan Peters-Oswald is the winemaker at Nanny Goat Vineyard, which is situated in New Zealand’s Central Otago region, the most southerly wine region in the world. This region experiences climactic extremes with hot summers and harsh, cold winters. The unusual terroir of Central Otago is great for the production of wines of focused intensity that depict a distinct regional claim.

TASTING NOTES

Pinot Noir is the most volatile and capricious grape variety, insisting on the most crucial analysis from vineyard to winery and grape to glass, in order to fulfil its promise of a premium and lavish wine. This is a dry red wine with an alcohol volume of 13.5%. On the nose, classic aromas of dark berry fruits and spices can be experienced, with intensely perfumed notes of violets. It is medium-bodied on the palate and is loaded with dark plums and soft, fine-grained tannins. It has a refreshing structural acidity ending in a long and lingering finish with a lick of spice. The wine’s acidity makes it a good food companion to poached salmon, braised duck, garlic-roasted tenderloin and lean meats.
