Pio Cesare's Barolo Mosconi comes from the renowned Mosconi vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. The site is recognised for producing powerful yet refined Nebbiolo, combining rich fruit with the structure and mineral character typical of the Monforte terroir.

Vintage Conditions

The 2021 vintage delivered excellent conditions for Barolo, with a long growing season supporting gradual ripening and excellent phenolic maturity. The resulting Nebbiolo combines concentrated fruit and firm structure with vibrant acidity and freshness.

Winemaking Techniques

Produced from 100% Nebbiolo from the Mosconi vineyard, the wine is traditionally fermented with extended maceration before maturation in oak. Large Slavonian oak casks help preserve the purity of the fruit and mineral character, while carefully selected French oak contributes additional depth and texture.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep garnet red

Aroma: Black cherry, raspberry and rose with notes of liquorice, cedar, tobacco and warm spice

Palate: Full-bodied and concentrated, with rich dark fruit, lively acidity and structured, fine-grained tannins

Finish: Long and persistent, with mineral, savoury and spicy character lingering on the palate
