Red Claw is the dynamic second label from Yabby Lake Vineyard, celebrated for crafting expressive wines from Victoria’s premium regions. The Heathcote Shiraz reflects the region’s reputation for producing bold yet refined Shiraz, with the Red Claw style offering vibrancy, generosity, and approachability.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2020 vintage in Heathcote delivered moderate yields with concentrated flavours. Warm days and cool nights during ripening enhanced colour development and aromatic intensity, while retaining the variety’s signature plush texture and balanced acidity.

Winemaking Process

Grapes were harvested at optimum ripeness and fermented in small batches to preserve fruit character. Extended maceration on skins built depth and structure before gentle pressing. The wine matured in a mix of French oak barrels (a portion new) for subtle spice integration.

Tasting Notes

Deep crimson-purple hue. Aromas of blackberry, dark plum, and hints of mocha and pepper. The palate is rich and generous, layered with ripe black fruits, warm spice, and velvety tannins, finishing long and smooth.
