WINERY INFORMATION

The Stein winemaking history began in 1838, when pioneer Johann Stein brought the first cuttings of Rhine Riesling from Germany to Australia. After successfully establishing Camden Park vineyard as one of the earliest Australian wineries, he joined his brother Jacob at Sandal Farm. A century later, Robert Stein purchased 75 acres of land to plant Shiraz grapevines, jump-starting the modern Stein winemaking culture.

TASTING NOTES

In 2011, Mudgee experienced marvellous climatic conditions, which allowed the fruit to mature properly and exhibit rich characters and flavours. The estate grown Shiraz fruit was handpicked from a special block of grapes, and co-fermented along with 4% Viognier grapes. The resulting bright red hued wine blend features a medium-bodied palate structure full of juicy flavours of blackberry, plum, fruitcake, mocha and spices intertwined with smooth and ripe tannins to provide an elegant mouthfeel and a persistent finish. Pork, beef, barbecued meats and pizza are great food pairings with this magnificent red wine blend.
