Winery Background

Ross Hill Wines is a family-owned estate in Orange, New South Wales, run by the Robson family. The Family Series highlights approachable varieties named after family members. Isabelle is their Cabernet Franc/Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend that offers approachable structure and Orange regional character. 

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2022 Isabelle blend draws fruit from elevated vineyards at 750–850 m altitude. Cool nights and moderate heat helped retain acidity while developing ripe red and black fruit, spice and depth. 

Winemaking Process

Grapes were picked and gently handled. Fermentation included some whole berry and bunch inclusion for texture. A small portion saw new oak to introduce gentle spice, while the rest aged in neutral oak or stainless steel before bottling under screwcap to preserve freshness. 

Tasting Notes

Deep purple-red colour. The nose features lavender, violet, blackcurrant, dried cranberry and hints of clove and chocolate. On the palate it is smooth and medium-bodied with dense red fruit, savoury spice and fine tannins, finishing with elegance and balance. 

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, roast pork or hearty vegetable stews. Its red‑fruit richness and spice also match well with mature cheddar or mushroom pasta.

Story Behind the Wine

Isabelle was created as a fruit-forward Bordeaux-style blend that represents the clarity and energy of the Orange region. The 2022 vintage strikes a balance between approachable structure and varietal expression, red fruit, herbal spice and regional lift in every bottle.
