Winery Background

Ross Hill Wines is family owned and based in the Orange region of New South Wales. The Family Series features wines named after the Robson family’s grandchildren, ‘Max’ Pinot Gris is designed to be varietal‑driven, approachable and a clear expression of Orange fruit character.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2024 Pinot Gris is sourced from high-altitude vineyards in Orange planted on basalt soils at around 750‑850 metres elevation. This cool‑climate setting ensures aromatic intensity and natural acidity through moderate ripening without heat stress.

Winemaking Process

Grapes were gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel to preserve aromatic clarity. Lees contact was minimal, aimed at maintaining refreshment and structural crispness rather than texture layering.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw in appearance, the bouquet presents pear, verbena and ginger perfume. The palate unfolds with honeydew melon, citrus zest and hints of nectarine, leading into a sharply defined, dry and invigorating finish.

Food Pairing

Pairs well with seafood such as oysters or ceviche, light goat’s cheese, fresh salads or delicately seasoned vegetable dishes. Its crisp profile also works well with mild curries and herb-accented vegetarian plates.
