Winery Background

Ross Hill Wines is a family‑owned estate in Orange, New South Wales, led by the Robson family. The Pinnacle Series highlights their finest single‑vineyard parcels—this Shiraz is grown on a premium section of the Griffin Road estate known as “The Ridge.”

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2022 Shiraz was grown at elevation across basalt soils in Orange. The Ridge block consistently delivers low-yield, high-flavour fruit. The season featured cool nights and warm days, preserving acidity while concentrating fruit character.

Winemaking Process

Hand-harvested grapes were fermented using wild yeasts in small open fermenters. The wine was matured for eighteen months in French oak barriques and hogsheads before bottling under screwcap to maintain freshness and structure.

Tasting Notes

Medium-purple in the glass with a nose of blackberry, star anise and white pepper. Palate shows raspberry and black olive flavours, framed by firm yet refined tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is savoury, elegant and long.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, peppered beef, venison or firm aged cheeses. Its spice and structure also complement dishes with earthy mushrooms or root vegetables.
