WINERY INFORMATION

Rutherglen Estates produces an innovative range of intensely flavoured regional wines, using premium fruit parcels sourced from their 185ha in-house vineyards. These delicious wines are crafted in the estate’s state-of-the-art winery, situated along Murray Valley Highway, just 7km from the township of Rutherglen. Accomplished winemaker Marc Scalzo has been supervising all winery and winemaking operations of the company since 2008.  

TASTING NOTES

Produced by the fusion of 12.5% Durif grapes with 87.5% Shiraz grapes, Rutherglen Estates Red Shiraz Durif is a deep red hued wine presenting a dark haze. A swirl of the glass reveals mesmerising fruit scents. Bold flavours of fruit, spice and pepper from Shiraz grapes fuse with underlying blackberry, aniseed, chocolate and liquorice notes from the Durif grapes, to offer a rich and captivating palate. Firm and juicy tannins further combine with plum and cherry characters, culminating the wine in a balanced and mouth filling finale. Made for consumption upon release, this fantastic red blend can also be enjoyed within a cellaring term of 5 to 10 years. It is a great food accompaniment with caramelised onion-stuffed baked potato, and lamb burgers with spicy beetroot relish.
