Product Description
Winery Background
Schild Estate is a family-owned winery located in the southern Barossa Valley, renowned for producing premium wines that reflect the region's rich terroir. The Angus Brae Shiraz 2022 is a single-vineyard wine sourced from the Angus Brae Vineyard, situated north of Lyndoch. This vineyard is named after Ed Schild’s grandson, Michael’s eldest, and is known for its hillside location and unique microclimate, contributing to the wine's distinctive character.
Vineyards and Vintage Conditions
The 2022 vintage in the Barossa Valley experienced warm, ripening conditions that allowed for the development of rich fruit concentration. The Angus Brae Vineyard's alluvial clay-loam soils and cooler-site fruit from Eden Valley provided freshness, balancing the intensity of the Shiraz grapes.
Winemaking
Fermentation occurred in small harvest lots, with careful extraction of color and tannin to preserve the fruit's integrity. The wine spent time in oak barrels to develop structure and spice notes, resulting in a bold yet balanced expression of Shiraz.
