Product Description
Schild Estate is a family-owned Barossa Valley winery with a proud winemaking heritage dating back to 1952. Named in honour of Lorraine Schild, this late harvest Semillon is part of the winery's premium reserve collection, showcasing the family's dedication to producing elegant wines that express both regional character and craftsmanship.
Region & Vintage Conditions
The fruit for this wine was sourced from premium Barossa Valley vineyards. The 2013 vintage was one of the earliest and driest on record in the region, producing low yields with concentrated flavours while retaining vibrant natural acidity. These conditions were particularly well suited to crafting rich, balanced late harvest wines.
Winemaking Techniques
The grapes were left on the vine to achieve late harvest ripeness, concentrating natural sugars and flavour. Fermentation was carefully managed to retain a portion of the grape's natural sweetness, creating a luscious dessert wine balanced by bright acidity. A subtle touch of oak adds further complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bright straw with pale golden hues.
Aroma: Fresh citrus, orange marmalade and delicate white floral aromas with hints of ripe stone fruit.
Palate: Rich and rounded, offering flavours of nectarine, white peach and citrus layered with gentle sweetness and subtle oak spice.
Finish: Clean, fresh and well-balanced, with lively acidity providing excellent length and preventing the sweetness from becoming overpowering.
