Winery Overview

Scotchmans Hill is a leading cool-climate producer located on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria. Established in 1982, the winery is known for elegant, vineyard-driven wines crafted from premium estate and local sites. Their maritime climate, cooling ocean breezes and well-drained volcanic soils allow them to produce refined Pinot Noir with purity, balance and regional character.

Region & Vintage Conditions

The 2024 season across Victoria was cool and even, providing long ripening and excellent flavour development. These conditions favoured Pinot Noir, delivering lifted aromatics, fine tannins and bright natural acidity.

Fruit is sourced from Scotchmans Hill’s estate blocks and selected Victorian cool-climate vineyards chosen for delicate red-fruit character and balanced structure.

Winemaking

The grapes were fermented with gentle handling and partial whole-bunch inclusion for aromatic lift and fine structure. Maturation in French oak was restrained, focusing on finesse and purity rather than heavy oak influence.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Bright ruby-red.
Aroma: Red cherry, raspberry, cranberry, subtle spice and light earthy notes.
Palate: Light-to-medium bodied with silky tannins, fresh acidity and pure red-berry fruit.
Finish: Elegant, clean and lightly savoury with persistent red-fruit lift.
