Established in the heart of the Barossa Valley at Lyndoch, Six Gates crafts boutique single-vineyard wines from a historic property that once served as a stagecoach station. The vineyards sit on rich red-clay soils, gently sloped and sun-exposed, providing ideal conditions for producing intense, deeply coloured Shiraz.

Region & Vintage Conditions

The 2018 vintage in the Barossa Valley produced robust, full-bodied wines, thanks to warm, sunny days and cooler nights that allowed the berries to ripen fully while preserving vibrant fruit character. The single-vineyard “Block 4” site at Six Gates particularly thrived, yielding richly flavoured fruit and supple tannins.

Winemaking Techniques

Hand-harvested from Block 4 of the estate vineyard, the grapes were fermented to extract maximum colour and flavour. Traditional winemaking techniques emphasise gentle extraction, with extended maturation in seasoned oak to enhance structure and develop smooth, integrated tannins.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep crimson with purple hues at the rim.

Aroma: Rich aromas of blackberry, plum and dark cherry with hints of liquorice and cedar.

Palate: Generous and full-bodied, displaying ripe dark-fruit flavours, a touch of baking spice and soft oak.

Finish: Smooth and lingering with fine tannins and a pleasant aftertaste of dark berries and spice.
