Product Description
Founded by legendary winemaker Hugo Gramp in 1983, St Hugo has become one of Australia’s most respected premium wine producers, renowned for crafting powerful yet refined expressions of South Australian Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery focuses on showcasing vineyard character, structure and elegance through meticulous fruit selection and careful oak maturation. The Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022 reflects the hallmark St Hugo style, combining richness, depth and polish with impressive ageing potential.
Region and Vintage Conditions
Sourced from premium Barossa Valley vineyards in South Australia, this Shiraz benefits from one of Australia’s most celebrated red wine regions, known for producing deeply flavoured wines with plush texture and generous dark fruit character. The Barossa Valley’s warm climate, ancient soils and old vine heritage contribute concentration, power and complexity to the wine. The 2022 vintage delivered excellent conditions for Shiraz, producing fruit with intense flavour, balanced acidity and fine tannin structure.
Winemaking Techniques
Carefully selected Shiraz parcels were fermented to maximise colour, flavour intensity and texture before undergoing extended maturation in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Oak maturation added layers of mocha, spice, cedar and dark chocolate complexity while preserving the purity and generosity of Barossa fruit. The final blend was crafted to deliver a seamless balance of richness, structure and elegance with long term cellaring potential.
