Product Description
Thymiopoulos Vineyards is a family-owned estate based in Trilofos, Naoussa, in northern Greece. Led by Apostolos Thymiopoulos, the winery has become one of the leading ambassadors of Xinomavro, Greece's flagship red grape variety. All vineyards are farmed organically using biodynamic practices, with many sites located on the foothills of Mount Vermio. Through sustainable viticulture, low-intervention winemaking and a strong focus on terroir, Thymiopoulos has played an important role in elevating the international reputation of both Naoussa and Xinomavro.
Vintage Conditions
The 2023 vintage was sourced from organically farmed vineyards around Fytia in Naoussa, situated at elevations of approximately 450 to 650 metres above sea level. The combination of altitude, significant diurnal temperature variation and cooling influences from Mount Vermio contributes to wines with freshness, aromatic complexity and balanced structure.
Winemaking Techniques
Produced from 100% Xinomavro, the fruit was sourced from mature, non-irrigated organic vineyards. Fermentation was carried out using indigenous yeasts, with a small percentage of whole clusters retained during maceration. The wine was matured for approximately eight months in large French oak vats, allowing the varietal character and vineyard expression to remain at the forefront.
