Product Description
Thymiopoulos Vineyards is a family-owned winery based in Trilofos, Naoussa, in northern Greece. Led by Apostolos Thymiopoulos, one of the most influential figures in modern Greek wine, the estate has gained international recognition for its organic and biodynamic approach to Xinomavro, Greece's flagship red grape variety. The Young Vines range is designed to showcase a fresher, more approachable expression of Naoussa Xinomavro while retaining the variety's distinctive character and sense of place.
Vintage Conditions
The fruit for the 2023 vintage was sourced from a blend of younger, non-irrigated vineyards around the villages of Fytia and Trilofos in Naoussa. Situated between 200 and 500 metres above sea level on schist, granite and limestone soils, these sites benefit from a warm continental climate and cooling winds from Mount Vermio, helping to preserve freshness and aromatic complexity.
Winemaking Techniques
Produced from 100% Xinomavro, the grapes were hand-harvested, with approximately 75% destemmed before fermentation. The wine underwent a 12 to 15-day maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by maturation for eight months in concrete tanks. This oak-free approach preserves fruit purity, freshness and varietal expression.
