Winery Overview

1164 Limited Release is the premium label of Warburn Estate, created by the Sergi family who have been making wine in New South Wales for almost forty years. The range focuses on small parcels of high-quality fruit and careful winemaking to ensure every bottle shows depth, character and regional quality. Chief winemaker Carmelo D’Aquino personally oversees the vineyards used for this range.

Region and Vintage Conditions

The 2022 vintage experienced dry conditions with low yields. This helped the grapes develop strong colour and rich flavour concentration, ideal for producing a structured and expressive Lagrein. Fruit for this wine was sourced from premium growing areas across the Riverina in New South Wales.

Grapes come from small, carefully selected parcels of vines known for producing consistently high-quality fruit. Vineyard management focuses on low yields to maximise flavour and ripeness.

Winemaking

The wine is matured for twelve months in a mix of French and American oak. This builds structure, spice and smoothness while keeping the fruit intensity at the centre of the style.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Brilliant purple.

Aroma: A complex mix of violets, leather and spice.

Palate: Full and structured with dark chocolate, plum and subtle liquorice undertones. Smooth tannins carry the flavours through to the finish.

Finish: Long, warm and silky with rich dark fruit and gentle spice lingering.
