The Terroir

Influenced by the vast coastline, Southern Fleurieu wine region enjoys a Mediterranean climate. The temperature it witnesses is very much alike the cool-climate Adelaide Hills wine region. The land is covered with essentially 2 types of soils: clay-loam and gravel, over the limestone-rich subsoil –  best suited for viticulture. Dr Gladstone (A viticultural climate researcher) also stated that the region has “the best conditions”, especially for table wines.
