Mahi Wines is one of the few renowned New Zealand-based wineries, established upon more than a decade of excellent wine growing, passionate winemaking and outstanding marketing that made the name more popular not only in Oceania but also in the whole world. Mahi, founded in 2001 is synonymous to the phrase: Our Work, Our Craft. After more than a decade of leading the region, Mahi Wines has expanded their vineyards and their wine range to fifteen great-tasting varietals that highlight the distinct regional characters. As much as possible, the winery crafts single-vineyard varietals as a sign of honour and admiration to the individuality of different vineyards.

Mahi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Mahi recreates the life, growth and resilience of the native New Zealand frond or fern, in passionate and patient crafting of exquisite wines as represented on the wine bottle’s label. It is of great importance for Mahi to allow the wines to evolve naturally at their own pace and at their own progress.

The 2014 vintage of Mahi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc features a festive fusion of various fruit characters from fresh tropical range to zesty citrus notes. The explosion of delightful flavours is complemented by secondary characters of light yeast lees and toasty oak. This medium-bodied wine is finished to a long and creamy finale.

Mahi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is built upon the harmonious blend of flavours with depth and texture rather than the dominance of single fruits. It takes a lot of determination and hard work to craft this amazing structure in order to encompass varying tastes of different wine drinkers.

Mahi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from seven distinct vineyards located in the wine region, all of them contributing their own characters to the final product. The grapes were carefully selected and gently pressed in whole bunches to completely extract the rich flavours and aromas of Sauvignon Blanc. The cool fermentation also allowed the amazing fruit characters to be fully locked in until the wine reaches your glasses. Eight percent of the total wine volume was fermented in new and seasoned barrels to add a touch of French oak characters that are neither too faint nor too strong.

The year 2014 has been pretty favourable for making excellent Sauvignon Blanc vintage. The flowering and harvest periods were unusually early last year. Nevertheless, the fruits were still as great as in the previous growing seasons. For this instance, Mahi continues to learn new knowledge that will hopefully be of good use for the future.

Mahi Wines never stops in taking extra steps to achieve an excellent wine that will surely satisfy your palate. In fact, Mahi never settles with mediocre quality. Every year is considered a new challenge and a new opportunity to achieve excellence at its finest.
