The term ‘Stella Bella’ refers to ‘Beautiful Star’. This is an aptly innovative and creative name for a winery from the premium wine region of Margaret River. Stella Bella Wines is the brainchild of Stuart Pym and Janice McDonald. Both of these people are extremely passionate about wines. They wanted to set new parameters in the Australian winemaking culture and thus established this winery with a goal to craft new and unique wines with expressive characters. They wanted to produce wines that appeal to wine – lovers of all ages and tastes, in addition to being suitable for all kinds of occasions and situations.

Careful attention is paid to the viticulture practices at Stella Bella Wines because the team believes in respecting the soil, the vineyard and the environment. They do not perform any actions that might harm them. The Margaret River wine region is universally acknowledged as a region with great terrier, capable of producing wines of world – class quality. The team's main philosophy is to protect and nurture this resource so that grapes of fine quality, intense flavours and vibrant hues can be grown and yielded. Usage of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is limited to as low as possible. Rye and clover plants are grown alongside the vines to aid in nitrogen fixation and prevent the compaction of soil. Growing buckwheat crops in the spring season helps to attract helpful insect species.

Cabernet Sauvignon vines grown in the vineyard are cane – pruned in order to ensure the quality and consistency of cropping patterns. Other gesture varieties are spur – pruned so that optimum shoot spacing can be observed in the canopy. Vertical Shoot Positioning is used to create trellises for all vineyards. Fruit is carefully selected on the basis of vine condition, sensory assessment, sugar/pH/TA, as well as colour and flavour. The team makes use of mechanical harvesting techniques to pick the fruit when it displays ideal ripeness levels. Each grape block is separately picked and vinified so that there are maximum blending options.
