Lyn and Rodney Lyne founded Spring Vale Vineyards in the year 1986. They established the estate at Cranbrook, which is situated north of Swansea on the Freycinet Coast of Tasmania. Rodney and Lyn continued in the footsteps of William Lyne who was the main inspiration behind their decision to establish a winery. Initially, they planted 14.5 hectares of grapevines at the Spring Vale estate, primarily with the Pinot Noir variety. By the year 2000, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gewrztraminer, Pinot Gris and Pinot Meunier varieties were planted in the vineyard. In June 2007, Lynes purchased an adjacent farmland called 'Melrose' that enabled them to produce a much lighter variety of red wine in the form of Melrose varietals. The first Spring Vale Melrose Pinot Noir vintage was released in 2008. In 2013, another 7.9 hectares of land was planted with Pinot Noir vines.

Spring Vale Vineyards

Spring Vale believes in the ideology of enjoying life. They relax and make merry as hard as they work. But there are still some core principles that the Spring Vale team abides by. The main goal is the production of the highest quality of wines possible. Secondly, they wish to promote Tasmania as well as the Freycinet Coast as much as they can as great food, wine and tourist destinations. They also wish to put the Freycinet Coast and Tasmania on the map of notable and premium Pinot Noir wine regions. Third, they wish to preserve and amplify customer loyalty by constantly delivering superior and elegant wines at pocket – friendly prices. Lastly, they aim at safeguarding the qualities and features that make a family business special and always be forward in the fields of viticulture and wine production.

Some of the most renowned wines from Spring Vale are as follows –

Spring Vale 2015 Sauvignon Blanc:

It is an exquisite blend of tropical fruit, floral and citrus characters on the nose while the palate features attractive elements of mineral texture, zingy acidity and complex flavours. All of this is wonderfully balanced to lead to a persistent climax.

Spring Vale 2008 Cellar Release Pinot Noir:

French – barrelled savour and sour cherry notes fuse together to form a wine that tastes magnificent when served with pan – roasted Tasmanian wallaby loin crushed with mountain pepper berries or duck rillettes.

Spring Vale 2014 Salute Sparkling:

The wine is manufactured 72% from Pinot Noir grapes, 23% from Chardonnay and the remaining 5% from the Pinot Meunier with 18 months on lees. Aromas of vanillin and strawberry coupled with lemon zest flow from the bouquet while the sweet palate presents sorbet and fresh berry elements.

Spring Vale 2013 Reserve Chardonnay:

With striking acidity and intense flavours, the silky palate contains flavours of stone fruit and vanillin oak. The nose gives off jasmine and peach fragrances in addition to notes of honey and vanillin. It is a pleasurable drink when consumed immediately upon release.
