Vasse Felix is an outstanding winery that has produced remarkable wonders in the last thirty years. The wine blends from this estate, especially Vasse Felix Classic Dry White and Vasse Felix Classic Dry Red have consistently scored well with wine critics, mostly getting more than 90 points. Wine experts, as well as amateurs, swear by both these delights. They are luxuriously fruit driven, boast of interesting aroma and flavour profiles and are absolutely approachable. They are made to be enjoyed young and fresh.
Out of all Vasse Felix wines, Vasse Felix Classic Red Dry Wine is my favourite. This wine has been crafted using two bold reds, 83% Shiraz and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are pressed separately in stainless steel containers. After the grapes are crushed, they are blended and left for maturation in oak barrels for one year. This gives the wine an interesting complexity and adds to its elegance.
The resultant wine is a vibrant burgundy in colour with bright red hues. Lush strawberries and jam backed with hints of liquorice, earth and vanillin oak make up the nose of this delight. It has a beautiful, smooth and round texture with flavours of plums, strawberries, raspberries along with hints of oak. The tannins are smooth and ripe and the wine enjoys a great length. All in all, this wine has every ingredient to make it a perfect delight for cold winter evenings.
Pair with dishes like a beef burger, braised short ribs, pepperoni pizza, barbecue, grilled chicken and tomato sauce based pasta.
