Hay Shed Hill Wines

Out of many interesting wines produced at Hay Shed Hill, the Hay Shed Hill Cabernet Merlot catches my fancy the most. It is a lovely blend made out of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and 20% Merlot grapes. The wine is dark crimson red in colour with vibrant red hues. Its nose is made up of intoxicating aromas of berries, cassis and mocha along with cedary oak. The wine is medium bodied and its palate features lush dark fruit flavours and minty oak characters. It is well structured and displays soft and smooth tannins. Enjoy it with roasted chicken, beef burger, grilled meat, lamb chops, duck and other game dishes etc.

After Cabernet Merlot, my second favourite from this estate is the Hay Shed Hill Chardonnay. It made in contemporary style, very different for the typical age old oaky Aussie Chardonnays. It is a pale straw coloured delight with hues of green. Nashi pear, honey melon and citrus make up the nose of this white wine. Its palate is rich and flavourful, boasting of freshly cut pear and cantaloupe flavours. The wine enjoys crisp acidity and an interestingly zingy finish. Enjoy it with seafood or white sauce based dishes.
