It is a universally - acknowledged fact that the creation of great wines starts right from the vineyard. The founders of Soumah Wines kept this as their main focus while searching for a suitable location to set up their wine estate. Being foreign immigrants, the food and wine of North Italy is what inspired them to pursue their quest. Finally, they found the perfect climatic and terroir conditions in the dress circle of the Warramate foothills in the Yarra Valley wine region. The first vintages released by the winery received a lot of appreciation with their excellent Savarro winning trophies at the 2011 as well as the 2012 Federation Square Wine Showcase. In addition to these, the brand has won a dozen more medals and awards.

Some of the best wines from Soumah Wines are-

Soumah Wines

2015 Single Vineyard Ai Fiori:

It is quite different from the usual varietal styles that most wines are made in. It is a unique fusion of Pinot Noir and Shiraz from Yarra Valley, with a touch of elegant white grape variety of Savagnin. The wine has a deep crimson colour, with the bouquet giving off lovely fragrances and the palate displaying juicy red berry flavours, all of which are graciously balanced together.

2015 Bracehtto d’ Soumah:

Although the label reads ‘full strength’, it doesn't feel that way when the bottle is opened. This elegant wine is sweet and sugary, with a refreshing acidity and a light chalkiness to the palate. Aromas of red berries and minty candy are given off by the bouquet with the palate featuring similar flavours. The wine tastes fresh and elegant.

2015 Single Vineyard Pinot Grigio:

The richness and elegance of fruits are the selling factor in the Soumah wines. The varietal and regional characters of the grapes shine through in the taste of the wine. The tight bouquet of this Pinot Grigio exhibits fragrances of light musk, apricots and pears while the sweet and juicy palate starts displaying a light acidity and headiness after a short period of cellaring so that the fruity flavours do not overpower the other elements of this wonderful wine.

2014 Skye Blox Chardonnay:

The exquisite Skye Blox Chardonnay is an excellent - quality white wine and a total value - for - money. It is an interesting fusion of melon, stone fruit and grapefruit flavours that are mellowed down by notes of toasty oak. The flavoursome palate contains hints of delicate green fruits coupled with dusty oak nuances.

In the near future, Soumah Wines is looking to expand its horizons and start producing elegant wines from Northern Italy such as Ai Fiori (Rosata), Nebbiolo, Pinot Grigio and Brachetto as well as Eastern French varieties like Viognier, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Chardonnay.
