Wolf Blass Gold Label Collection is definitely one of the best when it comes to style, quality and value for money. Premium quality grapes are sourced from the rich vineyards of the Eden Valley to produce a lovely vintage of Riesling highlighted by its delicate structure, complexity and lifted floral characters. Eden Valley vineyards are characterized by shallow layers of ancient soils rich in the shale which is less fertile compared to other blocks of land within the region. This distinction allows low yielding vines to concentrate the flavours in every piece of fruit and to feature a lovely structure of chalk and subtle minerality. Fresh Riesling harvests are immediately transported to the winery’s state of the art facilities where they are gently crushed and pressed into stainless steel fermenters. The free-run juice is allowed to settle and ferment under cool conditions for two weeks to retain the fresh aromas and flavours that are characteristic of the varietal. After the rigorous fermentation process, the wine is matured in stainless steel and bottled immediately in order to seal the well-loved Riesling characters in every Wolf Blass Gold Label bottle.

The 2013 growing season saw ample rains during the winter followed by a sudden rush of warmth in spring. Cool windy conditions provided a great and healthy flowering season for the vines. The limited amount of crops and perfect climate conditions resulted in an exceptional vintage. Considered as one of the best releases of the Riesling varietal, this 2013 wine features a premium quality structure of bright varietal characters and luxurious fine beaded acids.

The 2013 Wolf Blass Gold Label Riesling displays a bright colour of pale straw with lively shades of green on the edges. Irresistible aromas of crisp green apples, zesty feijoa, refreshing orange blossoms and lovely rose petals dominate the wine’s bouquet. Clean citrusy notes of lemon and kaffir lime leaf add a touch of freshness to the complex nose structure. On the palate, solid layers of zesty lemon and kaffir lime create a soft and rounded cascade of flavours with seductive minerals and excellent natural acidity on the side. Lifted blossom notes of light neroli finish the wine to a crisp, clean and dry finale.

Wolf Blass Gold Label Riesling may be enjoyed immediately from release, while the innate fruity flavours can develop nicely within five to eight years of good cellaring.
