De Bortoli Shines at Australian Wine & Food Feast, Pattaya

Lovers of Japanese foods would know of Benihana as a renowned Japanese cuisine chain with restaurants all over the globe. The branch in Pattaya, Thailand recently organized a culinary event where guests had the chance to enjoy delicious Japanese food with elegant Aussie wines from the renowned and beloved De Bortoli brand.

At the start of the feast, Matteo Clini – Area Sales Manager at Independent Wine and Spirit (Thailand) – distributor of the famous De Bortoli Wines; and Ian Cotting – F&B Manager as well as Supervisor of all Benihana restaurants in Thailand, were there to welcome guests to the event. Live acoustic tunes and splendid teppanyaki cooking performances enthralled the guests as they gobbled up the mouth-watering dishes and gulped down glass after glass of flavoursome wines.

The zesty De Bortoli Family Selection Sparkling Brut was served upon entry, clubbed with spicy wasabi nuts to prepare the guests for a night to remember. Next up were Japanese snacks yakitori and takoyaki, cheeses and charcuterie, and fresh and raw seafood being served at the sushi bar. These were paired with the fruity and refreshing De Bortoli Sacred Hill Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.

Finally, it was time for the chefs to show off their cooking skills as they sliced and diced through the raw foods to cook teppanyaki meat as well as juicy seafood. The magnificent De Bortoli Windy Peak Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were brought on to match the taste profiles of river prawn with butter blanc sauce, and sizzle butterfish with miso sauce. The medium weighted and dry De Bortoli Family Selection Merlot was a great accompaniment to grilled lamb cutlets with mint sauce. The star of the night - Australian Wagyu tomahawk, went well with the textural and vibrant De Bortoli Woodfired Shiraz.
