Lambert Wines - Sustainable Winemaking Without Compromising Quality

“Our ultimate aim is to let the grapes speak for themselves. It’s an approach to single-vineyard winemaking that you can taste in every bottle of Lambert Estate Wines.” Kirk & Vanesa Lambert

A family-run winery, Lambert Estate is snuggled in the rolling hills to the west of Angaston in the beautiful Barossa wine region. Founders, Jim and Pam Lambert feel blessed to have their winery present in the middle of the region’s finest soils and climatic conditions.

The couple lives on the site where Jim spends most of his time on tractors or the skid steer tinkering around the place. He’s the Chief Tasting Officer (CTO) at Lambert Wines as you will always find him at the cellar door with a glass in hand during evenings. However, Pam manages the accounts of the winery. Their son, Kirk is the Chief Winemaker and his wife, Vanesa takes care of the winery’s marketing.

Kirk obtained his Master's degree in Oenology from the University of Adelaide where he met Vanesa. Now the couple fuses their American and Peruvian backgrounds with their expertise in winemaking to bring their flair and individuality into every bottle of multiple award-winning Lambert Estate winery.

By matching vines to subtle soil and climate differences and by carefully monitoring watering, Lambert Estate wines fully express the potential of their estate-grown grapes. It’s an approach that blends traditional winemaking with modern techniques.

The winery has recently installed 360 solar panels making it sustainable and viable. Moreover, all the winery water is rainwater harvested.

The winery has been built into the hillside and reflects the natural shape of the terrain. Without the need for pumps, they let gravity do a lot of the work. This saves energy and treats the fruit more gently. It also means that the winery is a naturally cooler space, with less need for air conditioning to develop the quality of the wines.

In the vineyard, they are gradually moving towards integrated pest management and biodiversity.

The variety of temperature across the blocks and different soil variations allows them to produce many different styles of wines within one variety. They blend them further to produce the most balanced wines possible all within a 65-acre vineyard.

The Dancing Star range of Lambert Wines refers to the sea of dancing stars that are visible as you walk through the vineyards of an evening. They are made exclusively for Just Wines.
