Montrose Black Shiraz - Mudgee’s Finest

Montrose is the one of the most prominent pioneers of the flourishing winemaking industry in the Mudgee wine region. The Montrose vineyards rest on a high-altitude terrain covered in ancient red clay loam shaped by prehistoric volcanic activities. The successful beginnings of Montrose Wines started way back in 1974 when Italian engineers Carlo Salteri and Franco Belgiorno-Nettis migrated all the way down to Australia to establish a humble winery that soon transformed to the largest and most popular in the region. For over thirty years, the amazing blends of Montrose wines have brought the region to the international scene and to becoming one of Australia’s finest.

Montrose Black Shiraz

Recognized by several wine enthusiasts as the most excellent red wine varietal produced from the Mudgee region, Montrose Black Shiraz features a deep red colour and intense flavours and aromas. Montrose Black Shiraz has also received numerous awards and recognitions in different vintages since the first in the 1980s. The exquisite regional characters stand out extremely well in every bottle of Montrose Black Shiraz.

These grapes are sourced from low-yield parcels north of Mudgee where vines have reached more than 25 years of producing premium quality fruits. After cold fermentation, the wine is allowed to mature in new and lightly seasoned French oak hogsheads.

The result is an intense yet smooth palate of fruit characters carried by round tannins to a deep and lingering finish. Montrose Black Shiraz also has an incredible cellaring potential of 6 to 10 years, perfect for integrating the complex structure of the varietal characters.
