A Walk Through the Vineyards of Robe Wine Region

The tiny, coastal town experiences a cool climate that is influenced by the lakes in the east and the Southern Ocean in the west. Cool breezes in the evening allow the fruit to experience gentle ripening. During the winters, it may be cold and wet. As a result, the vines witness a long and cool growing period, while the Woakwine range in the west protects the region from strong winds of the Southern Ocean. Covered by a range of soil types - from sandy loam & the terra rossa (Limestone ridges) to rendzinas (Coastal plains area) and calcareous sand (Coastal dunes area). Together these conditions make for perfect winemaking conditions.
