Wine Facts and the Colours of the Rainbow Flag - Celebrating Pride Month!

PRIDE month is here, and you must have noticed the LGBTQ flag flying proudly everywhere.

To celebrate PRIDE month we wanted to have a bit of fun and take you through each colour of the rainbow LGBTQ flag and the Australian wines and wine regions it reminds us of. Let’s get started.

Red - The universal colour of love, it reminds us of the "Terra Rossa" soils of the Coonawarra that is the home to the world-famous Cabernet Sauvignon.

Orange - A cool climate wine region in Australia with the highest vineyards. How COOL is that! A colour, a fruit and a wine region - all made of love!

Yellow - It’s literally sunshine captured in a bottle, which is our very own Chardonnay! Something Australia is famous for.

Green - This one is for sustainability. Many wineries in Australia are now practising sustainable winemaking that includes the use of organic farming, and less or no use of pesticides and chemicals. Therefore, delivering not just wines but prosperity.

Indigo - The colour reminds us of the Ocean which Margaret River is famous for. It is a world-renowned surfing spot. Also, a famous wine region.

Violet - The world’s most recognised grape varietal, Shiraz has many shades of purple to display.

Hope you enjoyed our journey through the rainbow flag colours, and remember “wine is a little like love: when the right one comes along, you’ll know it.”
