Woodlands Clementine – Elegant and Delicious Red Blend

The Woodlands wine estate has a very special heritage. Their vineyard was amongst the first five vineyards to be planted in the revered Margaret River region, in 1973. David and Heather Watson nurtured the vines, planting the vineyard on Caves Road in Wilyabrup.

In 2011, David’s son Andrew met a young French girl named Marie. Not long after, they fell in love and gave birth to a beautiful daughter – Clementine. Around the same time, Woodlands crafted and bottled its first single estate wine since 1999. It was only fitting that the wine be labeled ‘Clementine’.

The 2015 Clementine is a magnificent blend of 55% Cab Sauv grapes with 17% Petit Verdot, 17% Merlot and 11% Malbec grapes. This deep violet red hued wine attracts you towards it with its scintillating aromas of dark berries, toasty French oak and five spice. The same characters are mirrored on the dense and powerful palate, which aptly reflects the marvellous characteristics of the Woodlands Brook vineyard from where fruit for this wine was sourced.

This elegant blend was recently crowned the best in the annual Top 100 Red Wine Tasting by The West Australian. It won judge Ray Jordan’s heart, overshadowing over 650 reds from all over Australia, falling under the category of $40 or less.
