Nagambie Lakes is home to many historic and beautiful wineries, some of them operating since the 1860s. The very popular and oldest is the Tahbilk winery possessing the most matured plantings of Marsanne in the world. Sitting on the shores of Lake Nagambie, this region has a channel of waterways, wetlands and soil that's perfect for viticulture. Another notable winery of the region is the Mitchelton winery which was established in 1969. It is also renowned for its striking architecture, Rhone varieties and aromatic Riesling wines. The region hosts Goulburn Valley Vintage Festival in March and Shiraz Challenge in November every year.
