One of the five subregions of the Great Southern wine region, Frankland River is located 360 km south of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Named after the river which bisects it, Frankland River is the most inland subregion of Great Southern. Frankland River has a Mediterranean climate, especially in terms of the dominant winter-spring rainfall. The soils at Frankland River region are typically rich, red in colour, and of uniform depth. The subregion is home to rolling hills, natural forests, rich viticulture farming land and great wineries specialising in Frankland River Riesling wines.
