Frank Mitolo’s father immigrated to Australia when he was 13 years old. His mother Angela was an Australian native. They gave birth to Frank in the Adelaide Hills region where he grew up with his brothers Darren and John. Growing up in the early - 90s, Frank developed a sudden interest in the art of winemaking and decided to pursue his passion. In the year 1995, he started crafting wines as a hobby. Later on, he enrolled himself in a winemaking course at the Regency TAFE, which he passed with flying colours. His passion, dedication and skill led to the birth of Mitolo Wines. The very first vintage of Mitolo Wines produced by Frank was named the ‘Mitolo G.A.M Shiraz’. It was named so after his three children – Gemma, Alex and Marco. After this vintage’s success, celebrated winemaker Ben Glaetzer joined Mitolo Wines the following year, as business partner and chief winemaker.
