The first vineyards of the Geographe region were established by Dr Benjamin Barry Killerby in the year 1973. He took vine cuttings from one of his oldest friends, Dr Bill Pannell at Moss Wood and used them to establish his vineyard. In 1977, he founded another vineyard in Margaret River.
Since the first vineyard has been founded in 1973, it has gone on to become one of the leading small wineries in Western Australia. It has made a reputable name in the wine market by producing delicious and vibrant varietal wines like Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The cellar door for the winery is situated a mere 3 – hour drive south of Perth in the beautiful and mesmerizing Margaret River wine region in Western Australia.
Killerby Wines has till date maintained the essence and philosophy behind most of its winemaking techniques since its establishment. Small batch techniques, along with the finest French oak barrels are used to make the wines paying utmost attention to detail. 2014 was the centenary year for the winery, when they created ‘The Killerby Icon Cabernet Sauvignon’ to mark and celebrate this achievement and celebrate 100 successful years in trading of wines.
