Mount Trio Wines - The Organic Wine-making History

It all started in 1989 when a winemaking couple named Gavin Berry and Gill Graham settled on the rich soils of Porongurupsub-region in Western Australia’s Great Southern. Porongurup’s’ terrain is perched on an ideal elevation with a prevailing cool climate, perfect for growing premium quality grapes. Being inclined to agriculture at a young age, Gavin tracks his early influence from his childhood years to a humble wheat farm in New South Wales.

Today, Gavin has successfully instilled the fundamental principles of paying huge respect to the land and the vines in their own winery. Mount Trio Wines finds its home in the magnificent Stirling Ranges where a cool breeze blows and gravelly loam soils cover the sub-region’s gentle slopes. Natural water drainage and structured airflow work together to produce the best grapes possible.

Home to the Australia’s best Riesling vintages, the Stirling Ranges is indeed a rare viticulture paradise. Gavin and Gill stay true to the traditional winegrowing and winemaking practices of minimal chemical intervention. The soils within the vineyards are naturally low in nutrients and it is left to remain that way. As a result, the low yielding vines are able to produce small yet healthy grapes of concentrated flavours and richer colours.

Since venturing in the winemaking industry in 1995, Mount Trio Wines has expanded its lovely and approachable wine range, to now include: Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Cabernet Merlot. Each bottle of Mount Trio wine perfectly captures the rich vineyard qualities and vibrant characters of the grape variety from the first sip up to the final drop.
