Benrinnes 21 Year Old - 1 Bottle

Availability: In stock

Pretty Good

This highly prized bottling was featured as part of the Diageo Special Releases in 2014. An uncompromising, robust beast, this Single Malt was matured in ex-bodega European oak casks. Distilled in 1992 with an ABV of 56.9%, just 2,892 bottles of this treasured liquid are available. Polished copper or beech with excellent beading. Hints of truffle oil soon settle down to fruit-cake. With time, sweetness emerges as dark treacle toffee – then grows richer, finally giving way to newly burnt toast and embers from a wood fire. Big, smooth-textured and mouth-filling, with a sweet and spicy nature. The first sip cools, then the taste catches fire! Briefly salty, savoury, then toffee sweetness leads to baked pastry. Lengthy, chewy and warming, with a menthol effect, a hint of flint, then burnt currants on Christmas cake or dried orange peel. There are notes of almond in the beautifully aromatic aftertaste and there’s a very late, charred astringency with a faded trace of smoke.
