Buy Barbaresco Wines Online
Barbaresco comes from the hills of Piedmont in northern Italy and is made exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape. It is one of Italy’s most respected wine appellations, producing wines known for their structure, aromatic complexity and ability to evolve over time.
The Just Wines Barbaresco collection currently features 11 wines from Italy, including bottles from producers such as Bruno Rocca and Pio Cesare. Compare the available producers, vintages and vineyard sites to find the style that suits you.
What Makes Barbaresco Special?
Barbaresco has a distinctive identity shaped by its Piedmontese origins, Nebbiolo grapes and the area’s winemaking traditions. The wines can combine red fruit and floral aromas with savoury, earthy and spicy notes, alongside the firm tannins and acidity that give Nebbiolo its characteristic structure.
Age is also an important part of the style. Younger bottles can show brighter fruit and firmer tannins, while mature examples can develop softer tannins and more pronounced savoury and earthy characteristics.
Explore Barbaresco By Producer
The producer can make a significant difference when choosing Barbaresco. Different estates work with individual vineyard sites and winemaking approaches, creating their own interpretations of Nebbiolo.
Bruno Rocca
Bruno Rocca is one of the key producers represented in the current collection, with wines from recognised vineyard sites including Rabajà and Currà. The range includes both standard Barbaresco DOCG wines and Riserva expressions. Shop Barbaresco Wine Online.
Pio Cesare
Pio Cesare brings a long-established Piedmontese winemaking heritage to the collection. Its Barbaresco selection includes the Pio DOCG and the single-vineyard Il Bricco di Treiso, which comes from the Treiso commune within the Barbaresco appellation. Shop Pio Cesare Wine Online
Barbaresco Red Wine For Dinner
A well-structured Barbaresco red wine can be a brilliant choice with food. Nebbiolo’s acidity and tannins work particularly well with dishes that have rich, savoury flavours.
Try Barbaresco with:
-
Braised beef
-
Slow-cooked meats
-
Mushroom dishes
-
Truffle-based pasta
-
Rich Italian pasta
-
Roast lamb
-
Game
-
Mature cheeses
The wine’s structure works particularly well with richer dishes, while its acidity helps balance the weight of the food.
Barbaresco And Vintage
Vintage can influence the balance, concentration and development of Barbaresco. The current Just Wines collection includes 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023 releases, giving you the option to compare wines from different growing seasons.
Younger vintages can provide a more youthful expression of Nebbiolo, while older bottles may offer greater development and more integrated tannins. The right choice depends on whether you prefer a fresher expression or a wine with more bottle age.
Barbaresco Wine From Piedmont
Barbaresco is one of Piedmont’s best-known wine styles, but the region also produces Barolo and other wines made from Nebbiolo, along with varieties such as Barbera and Dolcetto.
Trying different Piedmont wines can give you a better understanding of how the region’s grapes and appellations produce different styles.
