WINERY INFORMATION:

This iconic wine is a beloved addition to the Icon label. It was manufactured using 100% Barossa Valley grapes from Grant Burge’s home vineyards. These grapevines have an average age of 110 years, which allows these old vines to produce fruits of amazing intensity and depth. This wine is a blend of 44% Shiraz grapes, 31% Grenache and 25% Mourvedre variety. The grapes used for crafting this wine were all carefully selected and handpicked, prior to crushing and de-stemming them. Next, they were fermented in static potter type fermenters and pumped over frequently. After fermentation, the wine was subjected to extended maceration on skins in order to enhance the tannin structure. A portion of the wine was separately kept in a 2500 litre vat while the remaining wine was matured in one and two year old French hogsheads for 16 months.
