Pretty Good

: The Three Lions line is the pride of Plantagenet. The line signifies power, prestige, royalty and quality. When swirled in the glass, the nose of this deep red wine lifts black currant and tobacco with a layer of cedar cigar box aromas and touches of mulberry and spice. Cassis and cherry flavours prominently stand out on the palate with firm and silky tannins and mocha notes. Careful cellaring for another 3 to 4 years will allow this wine to develop into something bolder and more delightful. This wine pairs well with deer, venison, beef and beef. Home-style lamb burger with gruyere cheese is also another wonderful accompaniment to this Cabernet Merlot.

WINERY INFORMATION:

Established in 1968 by Tony Smith, Plantagenet Wines is one of the pioneering wineries in the Great Southern Region. Currently owned by Lionel Samson & Son, whose family was the first to acquire a liquor license in the state way back in 1835, the outfit boasts of a rich heritage both in winemaking and in business. Plantagenet five vineyard blocks are sprawled across a 126-hectare area that sits on well-draining gravelly soils. The area enjoys ample rain and a cool climate that subdues even the hottest Australian summer days. The wonderful climate contributes to development and retention of varietal characteristics that set their wines apart.
